The Annual North American Farmers’ Direct Marketing Association Convention was a great event. Our team at McCutcheon's had a wonderful time!
It feels good to see the crates being filled up again. There is something eerie about a store with no merchandise or products. But as Sue, Tony, and countless other McCutcheon’s employees began trucking in case after case of preserves the room began to look lived in again.

It’s the beginning of February, which means we are all officially in the midst of 2012. For McCutcheon’s this means we are ready to share with you all the exciting new products that we will be releasing this year. At the top of our list is our new small jar.

The new floors are waxed, which means that it is time to bring all the crates and displays back into the store. It’s hard to believe that two weeks ago we were fretting about packing up everything. Now, we have trucked back in the timeless apple crates that will house our products for display.

Well, folks, it is truly amazing what a new drop -down-tile ceiling can do for a space. That and the lovely new tile floor have taken away the old hodgepodge charm and cleaned it up. It looks like the space is really coming together. Don’t you think?
Tucked in an unassuming strip mall off route 80 in Monrovia, a town in Maryland that you would miss if you blinked, is a little cafe and bakery called The Buzz. For weeks now, everyone I knew was buzzing about it: “I hear their sandwiches are amazing,” “their pie, lord,” “really good food, like whoa!”

Phase one of the transformation is nearly complete! Yesterday we began painting the retail store walls. Back in the 80’s a decision had been made to cover the original concrete block walls with t-111 siding. Yes, folks, that’s right, we used barn siding. And for years that’s what it looked like: shabby, faded barn siding.

Every time I go into a restaurant or a store and see our products listed in the ingredients or displayed for sale I get a little tingle. It reminds me that we are making products that businesses trust, that customers seek out, and that look at home just about wherever.

The picture above is of the original store opened in 1940. These were the days when the apple presses were outside and we only sold two things: apple butter and apple cider. This structure is no longer standing and was replaced with the current retail facility on almost the exact same plot of land in the 1950’s.

t has been a wonderfully slow week for all of us at McCutcheon’s. We close our doors on Christmas Eve every year and promise to our loyal customers to reopen them January 2nd.
